"Tunk" Dennis Joshua Fritz, 20, of Wever, died at 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2008, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington after a long battle with cancer. Born August 5, 1987, in Burlington, he was the son of Denny and Carol Cooper Fritz. Tunk attended Denmark Elementary School and Fort Madison High School. He worked as parts manager at Pro Motor Sports. He enjoyed farming with his dad, fishing, hunting, pulling trucks and racing. He also enjoyed four wheelers and won many trophies in competition. Most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his friends. Survivors include his parents, Denny and Carol Fritz of Wever; his girlfriend, Meredith Abrisz of Fort Madison; one brother, Brian Dowell of Iowa City; one sister, Mindy Dowell of Wever; one niece, Emily Dowell of Colorado; one nephew, Kurtis Dowell of Iowa City; three aunts, Sandra Cooper of Burlington, Pam Eversmeyer of Texas and Dianne Pidgeon of Salem; two uncles, Bill Cooper of West Burlington and Joe Cooper of Burlington; cousins and numerous friends. His paternal grandfather, Lawrence Fritz, and a sister Kacey in infancy preceded him in death. Friends may call from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. Today in Lunning Chapel, and after 8:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 3rd, in Lunning Chapel, with the funeral service to follow. Pastor Jon Heyland will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
