Billy "Bill" B. Anderson, 84, of rural Burlington, died at 11:14 a.m. Thursday, july 15, 2004 at his home.
Born Dec. 27, 1919, in Burlington, he was the son of Charles William "Bill" and Maude Bowman Anderson. On April 29, 1972, he married Kathryn Ann Hoffman in Burlington.
Mr. Anderson retired as a project engineer from Heatilator Fireplace in Mount Pleasant. He had also worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant as a machine designer, Ajax Manufacturing Company as chief design. engineer and JI Case Co. as a design engineer. He developed the Cedar Hills subdivision north of Burlington. He was a 1937 graduate of Burlington High School and attended Burlington Junior College for one year. He served in the Naval Reserve and was a staff sergeant in the Army Ordnance Department during WWII.
He attended Oak Street Baptist Church. He was a member of the American Society of Agriculture Engineers. Survivors include his wife; twin sons, James of Stockton, Calif., and John of Elk Grove, Calif.; four grandchildren and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Lunning Chapel in Burlington. The family will not be present.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. Monday until the time of service at Lunning Chapel.
The funeral for Mr. Anderson will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel with the Revs. Mark Doss and Jason unzicker officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard of VFW osts 10102 and 9162, American Legion Post 52 and the Hamilton-Walters Marine Corps League.
Memorials have been established for Great River Hospice nd Oak Street Baptist Church.
