Lucille Freed, 91, of Burlington, died at 3:25 PM, Saturday, April 15, 2006 at Great River Medical Center. Born November 1, 1914 in Stronghurst, Illinois, the daughter Algert and Esther Hartquist Nolen. On July 5, 1934 she married Elias Rudolph Freed in Stonghurst, Illinois. He preceded her in death in April of 1977. Mrs. Freed was a graduate of Stronghurst High School. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church where she was a member of Ladies Aid. She enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, and cooking. Survivors include three daughters, Betty (Richard) Mauer of Burlington, Bonnie (Richard) Bastin of Las Vegas, Nevada and Karen (Richard) Peasley of Stronghurst, Illinois; nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren; one brother, Harold Nolen of Stronghurst, Illinois and one sister Doris Miller of Greeley, Colorado. Her parents and her husband preceded her in death. A memorial has been established for Messiah Lutheran Church or Great River Hospice.
