Ruby Ellen Franklin, 99, of West Point, died at 8:18 a.m. Tuesday, Janury 16, 2007, at Cor-Maria Center in Rockford, Ill. Born Sept. 3, 1907, in Holly, Colo., she was the daughter of Oscar and Minnie Nugen Hanson. On November 28, 1935, she married Ivan Franklin in Burlington. He preceded her in death. She was a member of West Point Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Franklin enjoyed being a homemaker, gardening and dressmaking. Survivors include one daughter, Linda Kenley of Rockford; one son, Craig Franklin of Englewood, Colo.; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in West Point, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Schmiz-Lynk Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Eis officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. A memorial has been established for West Point Presbyterian Church.
