Walter Fox, 86, of Winter Haven, Fla., died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, at Spring Lake Rehab Center in Winter Haven. Born July 4, 1921, in Middletown, he was the son of William John and Maude Pullen Fox. On Nov. 1, 1939, he married Iona Bloomberg in Middletown. Mr. Fox was the chairman of the board for Fox Appliance and Kitchen Center in Burlington. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was president of Jaycees in 1949, exalted ruler of BPOE 84 Elks Club, national treasurer of NARDA, and a member of Messiah Lutheran Church Board, Eagles, Moose, Burlington Golf Club, Carthage Lake Club and Isaac Walton Lake Club. He was an avid golfer and sportsman. Survivors include his wife of Winter Haven; one daughter, Christy Schaefer of Kissimmee, Fla.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Visitation with family will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Prugh's Chapel. The funeral for Mr. Fox will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev. Donald Hoornstra officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Messiah Lutheran Church.
