Margie L. Fox, 78, of Burlington, died at 2:14 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2008, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Born March 17, 1930, in Morning Sun, she was the daughter of S. Curtis and Lottie McConohay Hamilton. On May 20, 1951, she married John C. Fox in Burlington. Mrs. Fox worked at Drake Hardware, Burlington Community Schools Food Service for 27 years, Avis Car Rental as an agent and Home Health Care. She was a 1947 graduate of Burlington High School and a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where she sang in the church choir, was in the prayer circle, was a deaconess, a crop volunteer and a M & M table parent. She was active with the Big Brother & Big Sister program, Black Hawk Elementary PTO, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. She enjoyed music, community arts, walking, biking and gardening. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Melodie Fox of Chicago, Ill., and Susan Miller of Burlington; one son, Jay Fox of Rolling Meadows, Ill.; two grandsons; and one brother, Eugene Hamilton of Wapello; nieces; and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel, with family receiving friends from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Fox will be at 10;30 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), with the Rev. Tom Smith officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
