Obituary
Adrian L. Hand, 74, of Burlington, died at 7:15 PM Saturday, January 20, 2018, at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born April 23, 1943, in Burlington, he was the son of Woodrow W. Hand and Faye (Chuck) Harris Millspaugh. On November 2, 1963, he married Linda Coontz at the Four Square Church in Burlington.
He worked for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as a yard laborer laying tracks.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He enjoyed sitting on the porch, visiting with friends, fishing, and hunting. He also enjoyed watching "Gun Smoke", "The Andy Griffith Show" and the news. He was famous for making his "Fifty Stir Brownies". Adrian was a handy man, and loved to fix everything; always tearing things apart and putting them back together. He loved visits from his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and grand-dogs.
Survivors include his wife Linda; two daughters, Vicki (Troy) Walker and Susan (David) Fowler, both of Burlington; one son, Monte (Teresa) Hand of Bettendorf; 16 grandchildren, Justin, Kevin, Lyndsey, Danielle, Mason, Carina, Connor, Trey, Tori, Jessica, Ashley, Karyssa, Braxten, Qwinten, Natalia, and Emma; 12 great-grandchildren, Landon, Jaiyden, Kaylin, Remy, Addison, Westin, Lucas, Blake, Rylan, Carsten, Cady, and Autumn; two sisters, Sharon Nichols and Kay (Roger) Danes, both of Burlington; his grand-dogs; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, one grandson, five sisters, and two brothers.
Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mr. Hand will be 11:00 AM Friday, January 26, 2018, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Chaplain Randy Gearhart officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for his family.
