Kenneth Darrell Floyd, Sr., 72, of Burlington, died at 3:30 a.m. Monday, October 26, 2009, at Great River Hospice, West Burlington, Iowa. Born August 15, 1937, in Winchester, Illinois, he was the son of Ervin and Anna R. Lizenby Floyd. On November 16, 1959, he married Eileen Norman in Davenport, Iowa. On October 23, 1965, he founded Floyd's E-Z Way Container Service where he was the owner and operator until his retirement in 1994. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball fan. He also enjoyed NASCAR races. He and his wife enjoyed wintering in their Florida home playing softball, golf and billiards. He also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. He was of the Catholic faith. Survivors
include his wife, Eileen Floyd of Burlington; two sons, Kenneth Darrell Floyd, Jr. of Burlington, and Kristopher David (Michelle) Floyd of Burlington; one daughter, Kathleen Denise (Drake) DeLang of Burlington; seven grandchildren, George Floyd, Genna Floyd, Mercedes Floyd, Dana DeLang, Taylor Floyd, Guy DeLang, and Dalton Floyd; one sister, Dorothy Pratt of Ocala, Florida; one brother, Ervin Floyd of Los Angeles, California; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by is parents, one brother, Robert, four sisters, Lucille, Pauline, Marcia, Kathryn; and one daughter-in-law, Kelly Floyd. The Mass of Christian Burial for Kenneth D. Floyd, Sr. will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 30, 2009, at St. John Catholic Church. The Celebrant will be Fr. Patrick Hilgendorf. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Prugh's Chapel. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House.
