Olinda Mary Florang, 98, formerly of Bittersweet Place, died at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1993, at Burlington Care Center. Born Oct. 27, 1895, in Belleville, Ill., she was the daughter of William and Katherine Schniepp Veigel. On Sept.. 5, 1922, she married Clarence Florang in Belleville, Ill He died July 1, 1978. Mrs. Florang was a retired registered nurse trained in St. Louis, Mo. She was a World War I Army Reserve Nurse Corps veteran. She was also a Red Cross nurse. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, a member of the Women's Fellowship and Alliance Circle of the church, Kings Daughters, Burlington Golf Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Hospital Auxiliary, and former vice president and chairman of the board of the Burlington Basket Company. Survivors include one daughter, Joanne Thompson of Danville; four grandchildren, Steven Thompson of Danville, David Thompson, Rick Thompson and Jason Thompson, all of Burlington; seven great-grandchildren; and four nieces. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Friends may call at Prugh's. There will be no family visitation. The funeral for Mrs. Florang will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Prugh's Chapel with the Rev. William Trump officiating, Private graveside services will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery following the service. A memorial has been established for the First Congregational Church.
