Oscar E. Florang, 61, vice president of the Burlington Basket company and well known in business circles, died at 7:30 a.m. today in Mercy hospital, Denver, Col. While he had been in failing health for some time, his condition had not been regarded as critical. Last Friday he went to Denver from here on advice of physicians that a higher altitude might help him, but on Sunday his condition became more serious. His wife was with him, and his brother Clarence Florang, was en route there at the time of his death. The brother reached Denver at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Oscar Florang was born in Burlington, Jan. 11, 1882, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Florang, and was a life resident. He was educated in the public schools and in business college here. and had been identified with the Burlington Basket company, founded by his father, many years. He was also secretary treasurer of the Burlington Land & Timber company, a member of the Congregational church, Chamber of Commerce, Elks lodge and the Flint Hills club. He was united in marriage with Gerturde Dallner in 1903 and the couple was divorced in 1937. He married Bertha Ruckman in 1938. Surviving are his widow: two children, Mrs. Robert Vogel of Burlington and Mrs. Earl Hall, Winchendon, Mass.; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. R.P. Mercer and Mrs. O.T. Fausel of Burlington, and a brother, Clarence of this city. The body will be brought to Prugh's chapel. probably Thursday, and funeral announcements will be made later.
