Obituary
LeRoy S. Fleenor, 86, of Burlington, died at 9:57 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2006 at his home. March 17, 1919 in Moline, Illinois, he was the son of Otis Oscar and Anna Velorva Smith Fleenor. On May 24, 1941 he married Grace E. Derby in Kahoka, Missouri. She died November 15, 2002. Fleenor attended school in Detroit, Michigan and the Iowa School for Deaf in Council Bluffs. He worked at Norris Factory in Los Angeles, California, Burlington Lithography Company for 12 years, J.I. Case for 9 years and Murray Iron Works for 18 years. He also owned and operated his own business, Fleenor Janitor Supply, for 33 years. He enjoyed football and track and was All American in basketball earning many ribbons and medals in sports. He was an avid Hawkeye fan, enjoyed traveling, and was a math wizard. As a car lover, he took immaculate care of his cars and would trade cars every year and two. Antique model cars was also a hobby. Mr. Fleenor was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church (LCMS) of Burlington and a past member of Burlington's Silent Deaf Club for 15 years. Survivors include two daughters, Betty (Bob) Williams of Sierra Vista, Arizona and Marilyn (Neal) Hagen of Pavo, Georgia; seven grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren. His wife, parents; brother, sister, one grandson, and one great grandson preceded him in death. Memorials have been established for Great River Hospice and Deaf Lutheran Ministries.
