Lucille Matilda Amenell Peters, 95, of Burlington, died Saturday, November 22, 2008, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born March 9, 1913, in West Burlington, she was the daughter of Raymond Henry and Matilda K. Dietz Freytag. On October 2, 1933, she married LeRoy F. Amenell in Burlington. He died in 1970. On June 3, 1972, she married Francis Ralph Peters in Burlington. He died in 2007. Mrs. Peters was a homemaker. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1931. She was a member of Eastern Star and Eagles Club. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, cooking and growing flowers. Survivors include two sons, David L. Amenell of West Burlington and Thomas M. Amenell of Montrose; one stepson, Paul Peters of Omaha; two stepdaughters, Margaret Hanke of Indianapolis and Gina Westfall of Highland Village, Texas; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by one stepchild, one grandchild, her parents and one brother. No visitation is planned. The body has been cremated. The graveside service for Mrs. Peters will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. A memorial has been established for Klein Center in Burlington. The Cremation Society of Eastern-Central-Western Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
