Lola Blanche Ferguson, 91, of Burlington, died at 12:05 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born September 17, 1917, in Trenton, she was the daughter of Earl and Nettie Virginia Turner Henthorn. She married Chester Freeman. They later divorced. She then married Charles N. Ferguson. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Ferguson was a waitress at the Burlington Golf Club for 19 years, the Lincolnville Café for 12 years, and had worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant and the YWCA restaurant. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a member of the Eagles Club and Moose Lodge Ladies' Auxiliaries. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Overhake and Janet Hall, both of Burlington; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Judy Oliver and Janet Sue Johnson, both of La Harpe, IL; one brother, Kenneth Henthorn of North Dakota; nieces and nephews. Besides both of her husbands, she was preceded in death by one great-grandchild;, two sisters and two brothers. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Ferguson will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steven Parker officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Sunnyside Avenue Baptist Church.
