Virginia A. Kindig Philpott Fenton, 93, of Burlington, died at Great River Medical Center, West Burlington, Iowa on Saturday, March 14, 2015.
Born on November 6, 1921 in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of George E. and Lula Belle Smith Kindig. She married Everett Philpott on July 17, 1948 in Ft. Madison, Iowa. He died March 8, 1977. She married Oscar Fenton and he died September 27, 1987.
Virginia loved to travel, go shopping and the company of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and people. She also enjoyed country & western music. She was a loving and caring people person who enjoyed the company of others. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two sons, Randy Philpott of Burlington, Iowa and Rick (Susan) Philpott of West Burlington, Iowa; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, John Kindig of Burlington, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; five daughters, Norma Jean Philpott, Joan Wonders, Kathie Newland, Sandra Philpott and Kaylee Morris; one son, George Edward Philpott; granddaughter, Lynda Gillis; one brother, Russell Kindig; and one sister, Kathryn Kindig.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Prugh’s Chapel. Chaplain David Plooster will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in Prugh's Chapel. A memorial has been established in memory of Virginia Fenton.
