Richard Louis Fehseke, 66, 1225 Ave. B, Ft. Madison, died at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, on Lead Island, Lee County, Iowa, due to accidental drowning. Mr. Fehseke was born Nov. 2, 1918, in Burlington, the son of Ferd Louis and Matilda L.Taeger Fehseke.He had lived in Ft. Madison since 1945, and was a retired attorney and founder of the law firm Fehseke and Fehseke. He retired in 1983 after 38 years in practice. He was married on May 30, 1941, in Ft. Madison, to Margaret Ann Kiehne, who survives. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a 1939 graduate of the University of Iowa and a 1942 graduate of UI College of Law, and a special agent with the FBI from 1942 until 1945. He was a practicing attorney in Ft. Madison from 1945 through 1983. His other professional and civic activities included terms as past president of the UI Dads Association, past president of the Ft. Madison Lions Club, past secretary of the Iowa State Izaak Walton League, past exalted ruler of the Ft. Madison Elks Lodge 374, director of Ft. Madison County Club, past president of Lee County Bar Association, member of the Iowa District 8 Judicial Nominating Commission, and secretary of the Southeast Iowa Council Boy Scouts of America. Surviving: His wife; two sons, Richard L. Fehseke Jr. of Ft. Madison, Scott R. Fehseke of Keokuk; one daughter, Mrs. Charles Linda Thompson of Wichita, Kansas; two sisters, Mrs. John Ruth Kuechmann of Burlington, Mrs. Ralph Grace Dame of Laguna Hills, Cal.; seven grandchildren, one niece and four nephews. Private family services will be conducted Sunday, Oct. 20 at the Barr Memorial Chapel. Cremation will follow. Public memorial services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Barr Memorial Chapel, the Rev. Wayne Bartruff officiating. A memorial has been established with Ducks Unlimited. Contributions may be made to Barr Memorial Chapel.
