William "Bill" Schofield, 81, of Burlington, died at 3:07 PM, Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at the Burlington Care Center in Burlington.
He was born June 23, 1934, in Burlington, IA. On September 5, 1965, he married Marjorie Elaine Olson in Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington, IA.
William worked as a conductor for Burlington Northern for 45 years. After retiring in July 1996, he drove cars for Dealer's Choice in Mediapolis and Shottenkirk in Burlington.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War from April 8, 1953 until April 7, 1955.
When he was able, he took pride in his yard and home while in Mediapolis for 40 years. He enjoyed collecting railroad memorabilia and music of all kinds. He also enjoyed traveling, photography and being with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; one brother, Lloyd Schofield of Mediapolis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh-Thielen Crematory.
There will be no formal service.
