Ralph E. Alter, 79, of 1808 Grube, died at 8:05 a.m. Sunday Sept. 28, at Burlingotn Medical Center.
He was born at Wayland June 16, 1901, to William E. and Emily Kyes Alter. He married Virginia Lee Sept. 20, 1922, in Mt. Pleasant.
For 49 years, he was project supervisor for Carl A. Nelson & CO. retiring in 1972. He was a member of the First United Methodist church, several Masonic orders, Flotilla Seven of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was a life member of the Elks lodge, a 40-year member of Eagles Aerie 150, and a retired member of Carpenter Local 534.
Surviving: His wife, Virginia; three sons, William E. Burlington; Harold L. Anaheim, CA; Donald E. Mt. Pleasant, a stepbrother, Edward Alter, Burlington, 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, First United Methodist church, the Rev. Arthur Campney; Aspen Grove cemetery. Masonic rites; Prugh's chapel Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. memorials have been established for the Shriners Crippled Children hospital and the church.
