Charles A. Esu, 65, 1509 Agency street, life resident of Burlington, died at 3:40 p.m. Friday in Burlington hosptial,a fter having suffered a stroke on Thursday. He had no complained of illness prior to the attack, and appeared to be in good health. For the last couple of years he had been employed in the office at the Iowa ordnance plant. He was born in Burlington June 13, 1877, son of Frank and Louise Esau, and was married Oct. 16, 1916, to Elizabeth Gillies of this city. He was a member of First Congregational church. Surviving are his widow; three sons, Capt. Charles Esau, Langley Field, Va.; John Esau, who is in the aviation cadet school in Santa Ana, Cal., and Robert Jean Esau, at home; a sister, Etta Esau, and a brother, Frank Esau of Burlington. Capt. Charles Esau is here and John is on the way to Burlington. The family has been unable to get word to Robert. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Prugh's chapel, Rev. Bruce Masselink to officiate. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
