John Edward "Eppie" Epperson, 81, of Burlington, died at 6:23 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at Burlington Care Center. Born July 1, 1918, in Oneida, Ill., he was the son of Edward Dalton and Helen McCullock Epperson. He married Ardith Moyer n Palmyra, Mo. She died july 6, 1980. He then married Elizabeth Catherine Bean on Oct. 26, 1980, in Burlington. She died Dec. 23, 1998. Mr. Epperson was a World War II Army veteran. He worked as a laborer for the West Burlington Shops and previously cleaned coach cars for the CB&Q Railroad. He was a member of the Open Bible Church of Burlington. Survivors include one stepdaughter, Betty Anderson of Burlington; one stepson, Larry J. Bean of West Burlington; several step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grand-children. Besides his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents, one stepson and two sisters. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today in Lunning Chapel. There will be no family visitation. The graveside service for Mr. Epperson will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. Bill Hornback officiating. A memorial has been established for the Church of the Open Bible.
