Obituary
Mrs. Marjorie A. Elting, 88, of Burlington died at 12:50 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2012, at Blair House. Born January 5, 1924 at Green Bay Bottoms, near Wever, she was the daughter of George E. and Anna Sourwine Miller. On June 9, 1946 she married Robert William Elting in Burlington. He preceded her in death on June 4, 2002. Mrs. Elting was a 1941 graduate of Burlington High School and attended Burlington Business College. She started working in the business office for Mercy Hospital until it merged with Burlington Medical Center, working for a total of 25 years and retiring in 1989. She also worked at J.C. Penney's. Mrs. Elting was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Homebuilders Sunday school class. She loved to cook and spend time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Timothy R. (Susan) Elting and Cynthia D. (Wayne) Basquin both of Burlington; four grandchildren, Jason (Julie) Basquin of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Carrie Basquin Houston of Roscoe, Illinois, Laura Elting and Kristen Elting both of Burlington; and two great grandchildren, Lydia Grace Houston and Madeleine Anna Houston. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter Christine, two sisters and five brothers. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. Saturday, February 4th in Lunning Chapel. The graveside funeral service and interment for Mrs. Elting will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 4th, in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Trevor Davis will officiate. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Grace United Methodist Church..
