Robert Henry Elder, 77, of 1406 S. Sixth, was dead on arrival at Burlington Medical Center at about 10:30 p.m. Monday, Dec.19. He was born Oct. 5, 1900, in Minnesota, the son of Robert and Nancy Awry Elder. He married Fern Lodwick March 4, 1946, in Ft. Madison. He was employed at the West Burlington Shops for several years and was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of Eagles lodge and Railroad Vets. Surviving: The wife; three sons, James N. Elder, Rt. 2, James e. Blodgett, Houston, Texas and Eugene Blodgett, Burlington; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Helen) Miller and Mrs. Glen (Ruth) Sly both of Burlington, and Mrs. John (Marie) Howard, Niota, Ill.; four brothers, Robert, Jim and Mason, all of Canada and Leonard, Olympia, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Beach and Mrs. Eva McIrne, both of Canada; 21 grandchildren. Body is at Giles-Elliott funeral home.
