Jay Ehret, 52, of Burlington, died at 11:12 AM Thursday, January 16, 2014, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born August 31, 1961, in Burlington, he was the son of George Roy and Ethel Gertrude Cain Ehret. Jay worked in construction as a roofer. He was a 1979 graduate of Burlington High School. He graduated from Hamilton Technical College in 1988. He was a very hard worker, an avid Chicago Bears fan, enjoyed boating and especially time with his kids and family. Survivors include one son, Jared Jay Ehret, of Burlington; one daughter, Jerrica Jade Ehret, of Burlington; his father, George Roy Ehret of Burlington; his fiance, Janie Borrego of Burlington; one sister, Marta Newberry of Burlington; one niece, Jennifer Rose, of Burlington; three great nephews, Skylor, Bryce, and Brayton Rose. He was preceded in death by his mother. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM Sunday, January 19, 2014, at Thielen Funeral Home. The memorial service for Mr. Ehret will be 1:30 PM Monday, January 20, 2014, at Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Pamela Kranzler officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Thielen Funeral Home following the burial.
