Dr. A.A. Eggleston, 75, Bittersweet Place, who was a surgeon in Burlington over 50 years, was dead on arrival at Memorial hospital at 12:30 p.m. Friday. He was born Aug. 1, 1896, in Osceola, the son of August and Viva Griffen Eggleston. He married Phyllis Brown in Billings, Mont., in 1923. He practiced medicine in Montana two years before moving here. Dr. Eggleston was a 1919 graduate of the University of Iowa School of Medicine, and was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Assn., and the Des Moines county medical society. He was also on the staff of both Memorial and St. Francis hospitals. in 1969, Dr. Eggleston was honored for serving the medical profession for over 50 years. Surviving: The wife; two daughters, Mrs. Suzanne E. Gerdes, Des Moines, and Mrs. Claire E. Light, Williams, Ariz.; and four granddaughters. Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday, Prugh;s chapel, Rev. Roscoe M. Wolvington; Aspen Grove cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for the Heart Fund.
