Obituary
Carl L. Eckburg, 70, 1312 S. Leebrick, died at his home at 8:55 p.m. Wednesday. He had been in failing health for the past 2 1/2 years. He was born in Burlington, May 5, 1892, the son of Carl and Anna Gustafson Eckburg, and was married to Carrie Anna Scherer in Burlington on July 9, 1913. He was a foreman in car repair, for the Burlington railroad 38 years, retiring in 1955. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran church, and a member of C.E. Perkins Chapter Railroad Veterans, and the Railroad Pensioners Club. Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Kennedy; a son, Leonard C. Eckburg; five grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Bachman; a brother, Edward Eckburg, and several cousins, all of Burlington. His parents and one sister are dead. Services will be held in Prugh's chapel, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Rev. G.A. Saathoff will officiate. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
