Barbara Jean Brockett, 65, of Burlington, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at Great River Medical Center Hospice House in West Burlington. Born Jan. 19, 1946, in Fort Madison, she was the daughter of Alfred C. and Mary E. Ford Mueller. On Sept. 10, 1971, she married David Brockett in Burlington. He died Oct. 27, 1997. Mrs. Brockett worked 18 years in housekeeping at Burlington Medical Center. She was affiliated with First Southern Baptist Church. She enjoyed music, singing karaoke, the outdoors, fishing, camping, and time with family. Survivors include one daughter, Debra Mondorf of Burlington; one son, Michael Brockett of Carmen, Ill.; four brothers, Donald Mueller of West Burlington, Darrell Mueller of Fort Madison, Frank Mueller of West Point, and Mike Mueller of Burlington; two sisters, Betty Boughton of Burlington, and Kathleen Medland of Fort Madison; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one infant daughter, one son, her parents, and one brother. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington, where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Brockett will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev. Randy Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. A memorial has been established for GRMC Hospice House.
