D. Marie Brockett, 76, of Burlington, died at 6:10 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2004 at her home. Born December 1, 1927, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Henry David Dietsch and Ada Loella Culbertson. On March 14, 1947, she married Robert Ora Brockett in Ft. Madison, Iowa. He died September 20, 2002. Mrs. Brockett was a home health aide and a homemaker. She attended school for 12 years. She was a member of Burlington Baptist Church and the Bus Ministry. She loved sending cards and making sugar cookies and fudge. Survivors include four daughters, Susan Eaton of Burlington, Earla Brockett of Moline, Illinois, Connie (Robert)Hutchinson of Danville, Iowa and Bonnie (Randy) Richardson of Rockford, Illinois; two sons, Rick (Donna) Brockett of Gladstone, Illinois and Nick (Donna) Brockett of Lakeland, Florida; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Brockett of Burlington; two brothers, Kenneth Dietsch of Moline, Illinois and Dennis Dietsch of Burlington, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, David; three granddaughters, Rhonda, Janelle and Barbara Ann; her parents; step-mother and 6 brothers. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday evening. The funeral for Mrs. Brockett will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Prugh's Chapel, with Brother Randy Richardson and Pastor Kendall Adams officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
