Dennis E. Gillett, 65, of West Burlington, IA died at his residence on Sunday morning, January 1, 2012. Born on Aug. 8, 1946 in Fort Madison, IA, he was the son of Earl and Mary Chott Gillett. He married Teresa Fouts-Eaton in August, 1979 in Gladstone, IL. She died on October 28, 2004. Dennis was a Supervisor at Vista Bakery. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed sports cars, tennis and riding bikes. He loved painting, drawing, playing the guitar, rock and roll music (especially the Rolling Stones) and his dog ShortE. He also liked taking rides with his family on Sundays. He is survived by one daughter, Natalie Gillett of Ft. Madison, IA; two sons, Christopher Gillett of Irvine, CA and Randy (Mikyung) Gillett of Lakeland, FL; three grandchildren, Colton, Brittley and Caitlin; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Teresa and one son Nicholas Gillett. Funeral services for Dennis E. Gillett will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Prugh's Chapel, Burlington, Iowa. Pastor Steven Parker will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at Prugh's Chapel after 8:00 a.m. on Thursday with the family receiving friends from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society.
