Harold "Hal" Fred Durr, Jr., 66, of Burlington, died at 1:10 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born March 7, 1943, in Dallas, he was the son of Harold Fred and Mildred Olson Durr, Sr. Mr. Durr was an instrumental music teacher in Kansas and Oklahoma. He also was a manager of Payless Shoe Stores in Jackson- ville and Springfield, IL. He graduated from Kinnley High School in Coffeyville, Kans., and was a 1966 graduate of Kansas State College in Pittsburg, Kans. He was a member of Burlington Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He enjoyed restoring old cars. Survivors include two sons, Michael Durr and Steven Durr; one daughter, Laura Durr; and three grandchildren. His parents preceded him in death. The graveside funeral for Mr. Durr will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with Allan Pygott officiating. A memorial has been established.
