Mr. Norbert Vincent "Norb" Dunn, 82, of Burlington, died at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at Great River Medical Center. Born January 30, 1929, in Lewistown, Missouri, he was the son of Louis H. and Inez M. Dacon Dunn. On June 9, 1951, he married Mary Ann Hinkson. They were married 34 years. Mr. Dunn was a 1947 graduate of Burlington High School, and a 1949 graduate of Burlington Jr. College. Mr. Dunn worked at the downtown location of Sears, Merchants Wholesale, and was an appraiser for Des Moines County Assessor's office. Mr. Dunn was of the Catholic faith, and enjoyed gardening, auctions, tinkering in the garage, going to Tanner's baseball games, out-of-town ventures with his companion, Mary Jo. He was a diehard Cubs, Bears, and Celtics fan. Survivors include his companion, Mary Jo Snowden; one daughter, Mama (Jeff); one son, Gregg (Michelle Holmes) Dunn of Burlington; three grandchildren, Ian Coy, Gavin Coy, and Tanner Dunn; and three great-grandchildren, Raine, Camden, and Kinsley. Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Friday, September 9th, in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. The funeral service for Mr. Dunn will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 10th, in Lunning Chapel. The Rev. David Steinle will officiate. Inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date. A memorial has been established. According to Mr. Dunn's wishes, cremation will be accorded following the funeral service.
