Jerrolyn "Jere" Frances Tower Allen, 89, of Burlington, died at Great River Medical Center, on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 3:15 p.m.
Born on September 18, 1921, in Ft. Madison, Iowa, she was the daughter of James Albert and Mabel Marie Werner Tower. She married Wilbur Kramer on February 7, 1941 in Columbia, Missouri. He died on May 13, 2000. She married Dr. Robert Ballard Allen on May 10, 1980 in Balboa Island, California. He died on December 3, 2001.
Jerrolyn was a retired executive from Nieman Marcus. She was a member of the Art Guild of Burlington, Burlington Fine Arts League, Des Moines Co. Historical Society and Burlington Golf Club. She was a world traveler, an avid reader and enjoyed the tradition of the YaYa Sisterhood. She was a member of SS. John & Paul Catholic Church.
She is survived by one son, James Kramer of Orlando, Florida; two daughters, Pamela Moore of Akron, Ohio and Kathryn Shepherd of Little Rock, Arkansas; four step-daughters, Susan von Harz of Burlington, Judith Goodwin of Des Moines, Iowa, Kathryn Mason of Richmond, Virginia and Mary Nassif of Bellevue, Washington; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bette Schroeder of Peoria, Illinois and Jacqueline Broderick of Bayonet Point, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, and two sisters, Cynthia and Jean.
A Memorial Mass for Jerrolyn Frances Tower Allen will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Burlington, Iowa. Rev. David Steinle and Rev. Fr. Anthony Herold will be the concelebrants. Special music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir under the direction of Diane Mahoney. Interment will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery,
The family will receive friends at St. Paul Catholic Church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
A memorial has been established for the Art Guild of Burlington
