Janace Arlene Woodside, 80, of Sperry, died at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 5, 2017, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born December 3, 1936, in Wapello, she was the daughter of Robert Neal and Adelean Elizabeth Paxson. In 1951, she married John Robert Woodside; they later divorced. She then married Charles Duncan; he later passed.
She worked as a government inspector at IAAP in Burlington, and as a production line worker packing cookies for over 20 years in Sioux City.
Janace enjoyed doing word puzzles and reading books. She was known for making crafts and also used to quilt and crochet. She loved to sing and was a member of the Sweet Adelines. She used to sing baritone in a quartet all around Burlington, with her sister Betty, another Betty, and Phyllis. Along with music, Janace enjoyed all kinds of dancing; with ballroom and square dancing being her favorite. Being with family is what Janace loved most in her life, she did not know anything else. She enjoyed people and being with them, and she enjoyed her many furry friends.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Wayne (Wendy) Woodside of Sperry, and Warren (Sue) Woodside of Sioux City; one daughter, Cynthia Suzanne Woodside of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Stacie (Scott) Woodside, KC Woodside, Charlene (Chris) Baier, Jacquelyn (Robert) Sandusky, and Earl Scott (Megan) Woodside; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Betty and Barbara.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
The memorial service for Mrs. Woodside will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Dean Graber officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Des Moines County Human Society and the Woodberry County Humane Society.
