James Early Dority, Jr. 65, of Burlington, died at 5:12 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2010, at Genesis Medical Center in Davenport. Born September 19, 1944, in Arkansas, he was the son of Early and Laura Lee Washington Dority, Sr. He married and later divorced. Mr. Dority worked for Caterpillar in Peoria, Ill., and in the janitorial services industry after retirement. He served in the Army. Survivors include four daughters, Lorean Davis, Ann Winters, Shelia Dority, and Sherry Dority; four sons, James Logan, Donnie Dority, Terry Ford, and Berry Dorsey; nine sisters, Loraine Walker, Helen Johnson, Shirley Howard, Barbara Burnes, Margaret Yankaway, Laura J. Washington, Tanji Miller, Climmie Bell, and Carolyn Dority; seven brothers, Arthur Dority, Johnnie Dority, Rufus Dority, Terry Dority, Freddie Washington, Frank Washington, and Robert Washington; 31 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral for Mr. Dority will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington, with the Rev. O.C. Wimbley officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.
