Ruth May Donald, 93, of Burlington, died Saturday, December 26, 2009, at Blair House Nursing & Rehab Center in Burlington. Born April 11, 1916, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Harry and Minnie M. Nebiker Reitenauer. On May 6, 1939, she married John Dean Donald in Kahoka, MO. He died June 8, 1964. Mrs. Donald worked for 12 years as a social worker for Iowa Department of Social Services. She was a Burlington police matron for 15 years before retirement. She graduated from Burlington High School and Burlington School of Business. She was a member of First United Church of Christ in Burlington. She was an active member of Altrusa, Eastern Star, E.C. Blackmoor Chapter and White Shrine.. Survivors include three nieces, Nancy Keffer of Swarthmore, PA, and Ruth Reitenauer and Wendy Reitenauer, both of Pittsburgh. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. The memorial service for Mrs. Donald will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First United Church of Christ in Burlington, with the Rev. JudyAnn Morse officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. A memorial has been established for First United Services in Burlington is in charge of arrangements.
