Herbert Wendell Allen, 70, Salem, died Sunday at 3:30 a.m. at Burlington hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Allen was born Feb 8, 1898 at Broughton, IL the son of James and Elizabeth Faries Allen. May 17, 1917 at New London, he married Rose k Donahue, who died Feb 4, 1965.
Surviving: Four children, Mrs. Elizabeth Schwerin, Clyde W Allen, Thomas J. Allen and James T Allen, all of Burlington; 13 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Cecil Wiley, Puxico, MO and Mrs Rubie Scobee, Paris, MO. one half brother, Avery Allen of St Louis, MO.
Services: Tuesday, 2 p.m. Prugh's Chapel, Rev Earl Meissner; Aspen Grove cemetery.
