Emily Iona Dodds, 92, of Iowa City, and formerly of Burlington, died at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2009, at Legacy Point in Iowa City. Born November 12, 1916, she was the daughter of William and Emma Wellbern. On August 15, 1945, she married Clifford Earl Dodds in Minneapolis. Mrs. Dodds was a school teacher and homemaker. She was a graduate of Parsons College in Fairfield. She was affiliated with the Lutheran Church. She volunteered for the Burlington Hospital and at local nursing homes. She enjoyed traveling and flowers. Survivors include her husband; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and seven sisters. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington. The funeral for Mrs. Dodds will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev. Steve Rachke officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. A memorial has been established for Des Moines County Historical Society.
