Obituary
Richard "Beanie" Eugene Dilts, 81, of West Burlington died at 2:40 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at his home. Born Feb. 15, 1927, in Burlington he was the son of James and Florence Court Dilts. In 1947, he married Dorothy Conaway. They divorced. In 1994, he married Marie Strauss in Burlington. Mr. Dilts worked at Alcoa Aluminum in Davenport for 35 years, retiring in 1989. He worked as a carpenter in construction. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a volunteer firefighter and paramedic in Louisa County and mayor of Letts. He enjoyed dancing, watching TV and doing mechanical work. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Rhonda Zuniga of Columbus Junction, Rebecca Martinez of Conesville and Debra Boardman of Muscatine; one son, Dennis W. Dilts of Muscatine; one stepdaughter, Stephanie McCammon of Silvis, Ill.; four sisters, Elsie Walker of Wapello, Helen Hobbs of Morning Sun, Shirley Ann Cupps of Columbus City and Betty Lou Golden of Morning Sun; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel in Burlington where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral with military rites for Mr. Dilts will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Parkside First Baptist Church with the Rev. Marshall Jackman officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. Memorials have been established for Southeastern Iowa Dialysis Center in West Burlington and Parkside First Baptist Church.
