Art Dilsaver, 83, of West Point, formerly of Burlington, died at 6:45 AM Thursday, April 3, 2014, at the West Point Care Center in West Point.
Born March 31, 1931, in Burlington, IA, he was the son of Charles and Dorothy L. Strunk Dilsaver. On December 27, 1963, he married Delores Steinke in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She died October 20, 1988.
Art worked as a pipe fitter for the Local #212 retiring in June 1991.
He was a graduate of Burlington High School.
He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving during the Korean War and was a member of the Air Force basketball team.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Burlington Aerie 150, and the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed sports, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. He was an avid Cubs and Hawkeye fan.
Survivors include one son, Scott Dilsaver of Fort Madison, IA, three grandchildren, Lindsey (Josh) Higgins, Mason Dilsaver, and Amber Dilsaver; one great-granddaughter, Lillian Higgins; one sister, Gladys Williams of West Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and three sisters.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM where the family will receive friends Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Thielen Funeral Home.
The memorial service for Mr. Dilsaver will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Ryan Cosgrove officiating and full military honors rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.
