Arlene P. Dillon, 83, of Burlington, died Thursday, March 18, 2010, at 9 a.m. at Bickford Cottage in Burlington. Born August 26, 1926, in Perry, she was the daughter of Leonard and Delia Backus Dye. On August 29, 1948, she married Richard W. Dillon in Ottumwa. Mrs. Dillon was a homemaker. She also was the office manager at Burlington Produce, a clerk at Sickels Laundry, and had worked for the telephone company in Ottumwa. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School at the Methodist Church, and also helped with Girl Scouts. She enjoyed flowers, reading, and playing cards. Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Rebecca Grundman of Corning; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Harris of Sulphur Springs, Texas, and Shirley Gulick of Colona, Ill.; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, one infant brother, and seven sisters. Friends may call from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home. The memorial service for Mrs. Dillon will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Rigdon officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be at the Hass-Thielen Community Room following the inurnment. Memorials have been established for Asbury United Methodist Church and Corning Public Library in Corning.
