Obituary
Mrs. Velma M. Dillener, 97, of West Burlington, died at 11:25 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2009, at her home. Born October 4, 1911, in Davis County, she was the daughter of Alva P. and Amy Martin Randolph. On October 3, 1937, she married Otis Dillener in Kirksville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 18, 1983. Mrs. Dillener was a 1931 graduate of Ottumwa High School. She was a homemaker, and also worked at the Y.W.C.A. for 10 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed sewing, reading and traveling. Survivors include one daughter, Sondra (Bill) Astfalk of West Burlington; two granddaughters, Christine (Chad) Hardy of Richfield, Minnesota, and Suzanne Todd of West Burlington; and five great-grandchildren. Her husband, parents, son Lance Dillener, brother Gilbert Randolph, and sister Goldie Yoder preceded her in death. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 25th, in Lunning Chapel. The funeral service for Mrs. Dillener will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 26th, in Lunning Chapel. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Great River Hospice House or First United Methodist Church Rebuilding Fund.
