Clifton Dickerson, 97, of Burlington, died at 6 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2008, at Great River Medical Center Klein Center in West Burlington. Born February 9, 1911, in Echo, Kentucky, he was the son of Otis Dickerson and Lillian Hayden. In 1955 he married Edna Johnson in Indianapolis, Ind. She died September 10, 1995. Mr. Dickerson worked as a waiter at a hotel in Peoria, Ill. for 25 years, retiring in 1980. He was of the Baptist faith. He served in the Army during World War II. He enjoyed the New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs major league baseball games. Survivors include one daughter, Rosetta Marsh of Burlington; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; and four great-great-granddaughters. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents. There will be no formal visitation. Private burial in Aspen Grove Cemetery will be at a later date.
