William G. "Bill" Dewein, 89, of West Point died at 2:25 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2010, at Great River Medical Center Klein Center. Born January 20, 1921, in Burlington, he was the son of William Henry and Lillian C. Nansen Dewein. On February 22, 1947, he married Betty Jean McCune at Grace United Methodist Church in Burlington. Mr. Dewein was a farmer. After retiring from farming, he began wood- working, making furniture and crafts, and taking them to Bentonsport. He was a longtime member of Farm Bureau. He enjoyed his animals, his dog, baseball, golf, and bowling. He was inducted in the Bowlers Hall of Fame in 1981. Survivors include his wife of West Point; one brother, Jack H. Dewein of Key West, Fla.; nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday in Lunning Chapel, where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service for Mr. Dewein will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. David Plooster officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Denmark Fire and Rescue and Great River Klein Center.
