Deborah L. Derby, 54, of Eldridge, MO, formerly of Burlington, died at 1:10 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2008, at St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield, MO. Born December 25, 1953, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Donald E. and Dorothy J. Neff Wilson. On May 18, 1974, she married Howard David Derby in Burlington. They later divorced. Ms. Derby worked at Doran & Ward Printing Co. She was a 1973 graduate of Burlington High School and attended First Assembly of God Church. She collected bears, enjoyed working on puzzles, shopping, participating in Bible study and watching movies and soap operas. Survivors include two daughters, Christina Gilpin of Burlington, and Melissa Derby of Dubuque; two grandchildren; her parents of Burlington; two brothers, Dan Wilson of Burlington and Bruce Wilson of Goldsboro, N.C.; four sisters, Linda Vorwerk of Allentown N. J., Sharon Stuart of New London, Ann Prawitz of Burlington and Lori Warner of Newton; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Ms. Derby will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul Backhaus officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
