Ira Ramo DeLang, 94, of rural Wapello, died Thursday afternoon, July 22, 1999, at Burlington Medical Center. Born April 18, 1905, near Lowell, he was the son of Oscar and Martha DeLang. He married Helen R. Vance on Dec. 27, 1926, in Burlington. She died March 28, 1998. Mr. DeLang and his wife owned and operated DeLang Florist in Burlington for many years. After retiring and moving to the Wapello area, he managed Jake's Place and the camping area at Lake Odessa for many years. He was a member of the United Meethodist Church in Wapello, and Ducks Unlimited, and a former member of the Moose Lodge in Burlington. Survivors include one daughter, Patsy Martinson of Ottumwa; one son, Melvin DeLang of Burlington; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. Visitation will begin at noon Sunday at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mr. DeLang will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Chris Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington. A memorial has been established.
