Lucille Elsie DeJaynes, 84, of Great River Medical Center's Klein Center, died at 11:50 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born Sept. 8, 1916, in Kingston, she was the daughter of Henry and Nora Hinson Dravis. Her stepmother, Lena Moser, raised her. On May 26, 1934, she married Paul F. DeJaynes in Kingston. Mrs. DeJaynes was fountain manager for S.S. Kresge Co., then Jupiter, for more than 20 years. She also was a baker for James Madison Middle School for 10 years. She retired in 1979. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Gerald B. DeJaynes of Fayetteville, N.C., and Donny E. DeJaynes of Gladstone, Ill.; seven grandchildrenn; one great-grandchild; and three sisters, Margaret Johnson of Burlington, Evelyn Hulett of Danville, and Ruth Nader of California. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and three sisters. Visitation will begin after 11 a.m. today at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. DeJaynes will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Dick Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
