Obituary

Ralph Andrew Dehner, 89, of Burlington, died at 1:55 a.m. Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born July 9, 1920, in Burlington, he was the son of Carl and Edna Reid Dehner. On May 11, 1943, he married Darleine Junella "Dolly" Mattson in Kahoka, MO. She died March 30, 2007. Mr. Dehner worked as a baker for Midwest Biscuit. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed bowling, softball, and traveling to visit family. Survivors include one daughter, Dayle Dieffenbach of Cedarburg, Wis.; one son, Keith Dehner of Burlington; six grandchildren; one brother, Ernie Dehner of East Moline, Ill.; nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, his parents, one sister, and seven brothers. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Burlington, where the family will receive friends. The funeral for Mr. Dehner will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), with the Rev. Tom Smith officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for American Parkinson Disease Association, Iowa Chapter. Prugh Funeral Service in Burlington is in charge of arrangements.
