James Thomas Schrader, 68, of Burlington, died at 1:53 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born Sept. 3, 1932, in Wever, he was the son of Glen and Nora Brandt Schrader. On May 26, 1978, he married Donna Norton in Burlington. Mr. Schrader worked at Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, Alliant Energy for 30 years, and the city of Burlngton for three years. He was a 1951 graduate of Huron High School in Des Moines County and a Navy veteran. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10102, American Association of Retired Persons, Red Cross, American Legion Post 0052, Forty & Eight and AFSCME Local 828. Survivors include one son, Doug Duncan of Olathe, Kan.; one daughter, Dianna Little of Burlington; and two brothers, Harry Schrader and William Schrader, both of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one brother. Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. today at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Schrader will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Beth Briggs officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Kingston United Methodist Church.
