Fay Marie Dean, 82, of Burlington, died at 8:07 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center. Born December 22, 1928, in Poplar Bluff, MO, she was the daughter of Fay and Fannie Rankin Short. In 1946, she married Melvin Dean in Burlington and later they divorced. Dean worked at Champion Spark Plug Co. She belonged to the Union Baptist Church Full Gospel Fellowship and served on the usher board. She enjoyed singing in the church choir. Survivors include one daughter, D. Elaine Duffy of Galesburg, Ill.; three sons, Timothy J. Dean of Santee, Calif., Michael A. Dean of Burlington, and Gary D. Dean of Chino, Calif.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by one daughter, and her parents. No formal visitation is planned. Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Prugh's Chapel. The funeral for Ms. Dean will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Lawrence Manson officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Union Baptist Church Full Gospel Fellowship Building Fund.
