Sharon Louise Akey, 71, of Groves, TX died Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Jennie Sealy Hospital in Galveston.
She was born on November 21, 1946 in Belington, WV. She married Milton Akey on December 24, 1966 in Burlington, Iowa.
She enjoyed being a pastor's wife for 43 years. She also enjoyed being a choir director, an organist and a pianist. She enjoyed reading and painting. She was in the first graduating class of Barbour County High School in 1964. She attained her BA degree in 1969 from Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville, TN and ADN degree in 1981 from Rock County Community College in Rock County, WI. Sharon worked as a Registered Nurse for 30 years until her retirement in 2009.
Survivors include her husband Milton; daughters, Rebecca (Dean) Morgan of Lufkin, TX and Esther (Jimmy) Wescoe of Bethlehem, PA; and grandson, Evan Wescoe.
A memorial has been established for Gideon Bible Society or Flint Hills Church of the Nazarene.
