Mrs. Phyllis J. Davidson, 83, of Burlington died at 5:20 p.m. Sunday, December 6, 2015, at Blair House in Burlington.
Born August 14, 1932 in Avery, Iowa, she was one of five children born to Tom and Grace (Hannah) Cooper. Her three brothers and one sister have preceded her in death.
Phyllis' family moved to Fairfield where she attended and graduated high school. It was while in high school that the met her husband-to-be, Dick Davidson. On October 15, 1950 she married her high school sweetheart. At that time Dick was in the National Guard. He also played the guitar and taught their boys how to play. They square danced with Circle Square B for many years. Dick also preceded her in death on July 22, 1994.
During her marriage, Phyllis was a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting afghans and doilies. Her favorite was making doilies. One year she crocheted all the decorations on her tree. When she came to Blair House for a stay, she crocheted angels for all the CNA's. She enjoyed collecting different things like dishes and knick-knacks, and all kinds of music - especially country and playing Bingo.
Survivors include her children, Tom (Donna) Davidson of Lafayette, Indiana, Terri (Mike) Mellinger of Burlington, Ron (Patti) Davidson of Alliance, Ohio and Sandy Windle of Burlington; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and 18 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Grace Cooper; husband, Dick; three brothers, Cecil, Don and Lowell; one sister, Marilyn; one son-in-law, Mike Modrell; and her stepfather, Warren.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 9th, at Lunning Chapel.
The graveside funeral service and interment for Mrs. Davidson will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 10th, in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.
