Obituary
Betty Nadine Crowner, 89, a longtime resident of West Burlington, currently residing at Sunnybrook Assisted Living, Burlington, died at 1:13 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2014, at Great River Hospice House, West Burlington.
She was born Jan. 2, 1925 in her family home in rural Lockridge, IA. She was the daughter of Guy Bert and Mary Agnes Litton. On June 27, 1941 she married Clifford Gayle Crowner in Palmyra, MO. He died Jan. 20, 1997.
She is a retiree of IRC-TRW after working there for many years. She also assisted her husband with the operation of his business, Cliff's Resale, with the selling of Woods mowers, vintage Ford tractors and other farm equipment. After her retirement, she worked as a cashier for The Auction Barn.
She enjoyed playing games, especially Sequence, SkipBo and Dominos, Wii Bowling, doing number puzzles, and listening to country music. In the past, she enjoyed country line dancing, playing cards, collecting Aladdin lamps and Depression glass, hunting and fishing. Her greatest joy though always came from spending time with her family.
Survivors include a daughter, Deloris Kay (Dennis) Krieger of West Burlington; two sons, Russell Gayle (Pat) Crowner of Ames; and Rodney Lee (Sheila) Crowner of West Burlington; five grandchildren, Quentin (Anne) Crowner of Ankeny, Sarah Barnes (Sam Gramlich) of Tustin, CA, Amy (Jeff) Burkhart of Burlington, Sam Barnes of Ames; and Andy Crowner of West Burlington; and seven great-grandchildren, Sage, Grant, Matisse, Logan, Cezanne, Kale and Amabel.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister and one granddaughter, Susan Kay Barnes.
The family will receive friends at Lunning Chapel from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 13. Funeral services for Betty will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 14, at Lunning Chapel with Chaplain Dean Graber officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial for Great River Hospice has been established.
